STORMCRETE® GREEN CORNER™: PERFORATED DETECTABLE WARNING

The Stormcrete® Precast Porous Concrete Green Corner™ with ADA Flow-Thru Detectable Warning Surface (DWS) has been developed to eliminate dangerous ponding / icing conditions at pedestrian ramps and corners. In addition to public safety benefits, the Stormcrete® Green Corner™ provides runoff reduction and groundwater recharge. Because the entire DWS is porous, puddles are not able to form; instead, water is directed through perforations in the surface of the DWS tile to the Stormcrete® precast porous concrete slab below.

STORMCRETE® ALLEY: FIRST GREEN ALLEY IN LOWELL, MA

Alley+1.jpg

In 2014, the Lowell Regional Waste Water Utility (LRWWU) began a plan to separate a combined storm and sanitary sewer in the area surrounding Decatur Way, an alley in inner-city Lowell, MA. During a rapid, three month design period, various options were considered for the pervious pavement, but were rejected due to concerns about either poor quality control during placement or maintenance concerns. The design engineer CDM Smith identified Stormcrete® Modular Precast Porous Concrete Paving Slabs as a viable alternative, and the product was eventually chosen for use.

STORMCRETE® GUTTER: VENTURA COUNTY COMPLETED RETROFIT FOR GROUNDWATER RECHARGE PROJECT

The County’s options for remedying the flooding conditions in the area were limited as there is no piped underground drainage system present there. So instead of installing a new, costly, conventional piped storm drainage system, the County engineers opted for a porous pavement system which allows stormwater to infiltrate naturally back into the surrounding soils.

STORMCETE® GREEN CORNER: NYC DOT SOLVES LOCALIZED FLOODING ISSUES

2013-01-31_08-05-01_903.jpg

With roughly 12,000 street corners to manage across the five Boroughs, the New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) has the daunting task of assuring pedestrian safety while meeting the updated standards adopted by the Americans with Disability Act (ADA). The DOT ultimately settled on testing the Stormcrete® modular porous concrete stormwater system. They selected a bus stop on the corner of Linden Blvd & 204th St in Queens as a test location (see photos)
